Join our amazing Team with Part-time, Sessional and Volunteer Roles

Looking for a new challenge?   Oxygen has many roles and opportunities for you to apply your skills, work as part of a fantastic team and impact the lives of young people.

Part time, sessional staff and volunteers are essential to us having the capacity to meet the needs of young people and being able to run the charity.  There are a number of opportunties to utilise your skills, experience and knowledge and give your time in support of Oxygen's work.

We are looking for capable, articulate and determined people to engage and support marginalised and disadvantaged young people.​  We can provide anything from a few hours a week as a volunteer to full time paid roles, depending upon your skills, experience, availability and qualifications.​  Basic training will be provided.  These are the roles we have available:

Mentors +
Sessional Youth Support Workers

Many young people face significant challenges and don’t always have the support they need to overcome them. Oxygen receives increasing referrals each week and is unable to meet the growing demand. We are seeking motivated and skilled volunteers to train as mentors, supporting young people through our youth projects and mentoring programme. You’ll join a dedicated team working flexible hours in local schools and the community, helping young people build confidence and resilience. An Enhanced DBS check will be undertaken, and full safeguarding training will be provided.

Hours: Flexible, ranging from a couple of hours per week up to full-time (35+ hours per month), depending on availability.

Retail Volunteers for our Charity Shop: 

RETAIL EXPERIENCE - EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS DEVELOPMENT - SOCIAL ACTION - TEAM WORKING-UP-CYCLING PROJECT  - Since opening in 2018, Oxygen’s charity shop in the heart of New Malden has been a vibrant community hub, raising vital funds while helping volunteers develop confidence, employability skills, and a sense of purpose through teamwork, social action, and up-cycling projects. We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, with particular need for Saturday mornings and afternoons (approximately once per month on a rota) and Tuesday mornings. Many young people complete their Duke of Edinburgh Award with us; an Enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training are provided, and we’re keen to support volunteers who show initiative and leadership potential.

GAP Worker: 

Do you need a break from learning?  Want to gain insight into your options? Would like to develop you skills and character and make a difference? Need time to explore your capabilities or try something new?  Then a Gap Year with Oxygen might be worth considering.

Internship: 

Oxygen is keen to support young people who are keen to move forward with their lives and might benefit from working within the charity to gain particular qualifications, as part of their education, or experience what it is like to enter the world of work.  An internship with Oxygen can be tailored to suit your needs and can be anything from a couple of months to a year.  initiative then you will bring just what we need to the team.

Administrator: 

We always need help in the office or with tasks that could be undertaken remotely.  If you are an organiser, are task focussed and can use your initiative then you will bring just what we need to the team.

Fundraiser: 

Do you have experience in writing applications for funding?  Do you have skills in research and communicating through text?  We need you!  We also need event organisers and adventurers to undertake sponsored challenges in aid of Oxygen
