Pilgrims progress a journey of faith posted 09 05 06

Over 300 years ago John Bunyan wrote a famous allegorical novel called The Pilgrim’s Progress in which he tells of Christian, an everyman character, who makes his way from the "City of Destruction" to the "Celestial City".
Through an emotional and testing journey and many trials and challenges Christian seeks to reach the Land that God has promised for him. His journey takes him through such places as the "Slough of Despond," the "Hill Difficulty," the "Valley of the Shadow of Death," and the "Enchanted Ground” and trains Christian to not only lays down his burdens but to focus his hopes and dreams on Jesus following him no matter what the world may throw at him.
300 years after Bunyan penned his novel Oxygen are being inspired by Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress to create a prayer room that people can visit and face some of the challenges that Bunyan wrote about. Starting Tuesday 30th May and running through to Friday 2nd June the Oxygen centre in Norbiton will be open for people to come (between 10am and 10pm) and spend an hour or so walking some of the route. As they do so they will face some of the challenges the original “Christian” faced as well as undertake times of decision for themselves.
Everyone is welcome to come and walk the route, no matter where they are on their faith journey. House groups and youth groups are also welcome to book in and walk the route in small teams together. We hope to see you on route….
