When Oxygen was launched over a small desk in St Peters Church Office in August 2001 little did we know quite how much the project would grow during its first five years.
Wider: Oxygen’s work has expanded to cover the entire Kingston Borough. We have made great effort to develop work in each of the Borough’s four neighbourhoods: New Malden,
Longer: Ever since the first few projects were launched in 2001/2 we have keen to develop positively to local youth culture. We know young people are into different things, act in different ways, have a variety of concerns, pressures and needs. To respond to this we have developed five streams of youthwork each of which tackles a different element of local youth culture. These are

Urban: focused around young people from the local estates and who hang around the streets in the evenings.

Thevent: focused around young people with a love of guitar and band music.

Korean: focused around the 2,000 Korean young people local

Infuse: focused around supporting and empowering young people in the local churches to love God and serve their neighbour.

Refuge: focused around the 15,000 young people who frequent
Deeper: Over the course of the last four years our work has sought to merely entertain young people but to slowly engage them in a program of activities that they can slowly take responsibility for and then learn to help their wider communities. This has seen our work over the last five years go deeper and deeper with the young people we work with, getting to the heart of some very difficult situations.
