ID: growing in self, social and spiritual esteem

Oxygen’s ID project is a targeted scheme for young people aged 11 -14 who have been identified by a school as being in need of extra support. The aim of this school funded, Oxygen coordinated scheme is to provide a safe supportive place for those young people who the school recognise as needing some extra care.

What is ID?

ID is attended by up to 12 targeted pupils taken out of school for one session per week. The aim is to provide these young people an alternative, yet informative space where they engage in positive educational play, learning more about themselves and the world, as well as developing social skills and increasing self worth. By focusing on helping young people explore and realise what they want to achieve in life, ID addresses the Every Child Matters targets of being healthy, staying safe, enjoying and achieving as well as making a positive contribution

ID

Each ID programme is tailor made to suit the school and group of young people being targeted. In the past this has resulted in a Ladette to Lady programme addressing risk and lifestyle choices for Year 10s at Hollyfield, transition support for young boys in year 7 at Coombe Boys, and a self esteem programme for years 7-9 at Tolworth Girls. In addition to group work support each young person at ID is offered the support of a personal mentor during their time at ID.
